Thanks to this week’s Junto, I’ve learnt of this beautiful term: pentimento.

One of the aspects about pentimento that struck me was how layers of time can be literally represented on a canvas - basically, multiple timelines can potentially live together, in various states of harmony, indifference and dissonance. So, for this piece I took a recording of myself playing guitar [speaking of time, from a project done in 2016!], then staggered several manipulated layers of the same recording on top and panned it various ways using the Sennheiser AMBEO Orbit.

Layer 1: Original.
Layer 2: Original with Minor Third Down effect.
Layer 3: Original with Minor Third Up effect.
Layer 4: Reversed with delay.
Layer 5: Original, pitch-shifted.
Layer 6: Original with Many Birds effect.
